Royal Golf Club
Set in the beautiful rolling hills of the St. Croix River Valley, along the shore of Horseshoe Lake, Royal Golf Club was co-designed by legendary golf pros Arnold Palmer and Annika Sörenstam. The first nine holes, known as the Queen’s Nine, were designed by Annika Sorenstam, and the back nine, known as the King’s Nine, were designed by the late Arnold Palmer. Royal Golf Club is Arnold’s last course design, and Annika’s first design in the U.S.
I found the course to be pretty demanding from tee to green. Lots of interesting tee shots and angles were followed up by approaches to some small, treacherous greens. That being said, Royal Golf Club sure isn’t boring. Keeping your focus is paramount and it seemed like every hole presented a more unique challenge than the last. I admit that I found it captivating to play Mr. Palmer’s last design as I am a fan of many of his designs around the country. Make the pilgrimage to Royal Golf Club during your next trip to the Minneapolis area!
